The Creative Productive and Training Centre (CPTC) Limited is to provide personal and professional development training for the nation’s sports ambassadors.

This was disclosed by Minister with responsibility for Sport, Hon. Natalie Neita Headley on Wednesday, June 5, during her contribution to the 2013/14 Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives.

“This offering is meant to enhance the marketability of an athlete, who would be required to participate in this programme. It is also meant to ensure that as a Government, we provide the best environment for our athletes to succeed on and off the field of play. The Government wants and expects full participation. Brand Jamaica epitomises excellence and we want this for our sporting fraternity,” she stated.

Mrs. Neita Headley said the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and the Ministry of Youth and Culture, are in the process of signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise the initiative, which will also teach the sports ambassadors how to handle the media in an effective way.

She said the Government is committed to ensuring that the interests of these talented individuals are looked at in a holistic manner.

“I am referring to our commitment to ensuring that focus is given to the personal development of our young athletes so that they can continue to be good Jamaican ambassadors after they have competed and done their best,” she stated.
