Axeman Walters cuts down Prescott in 7th round

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Nicholas ‘The Axeman’ Walters cut down Colombian challenger Daulis Prescott in the seventh round to capture the World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight world title at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston Saturday night.

After a tentative start by both boxers Walters stepped up the tempo in round four sending Prescott to his knees with a crisp left hook.

The Axeman then took control, again flooring Prescott in round five of the 12-round bout for the vacant WBA title. The end came when Walters sent  a game Prescott to the canvas in the seventh forcing the referee to call a halt to the bout.

The Jamaican in his victory has created history being the first local boxer to win a world title on home soil.
