Spanish Glass Masters Train Young Workers in Cuba

Cienfuegos, Cuba, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) Spanish experts in glassworks train today Cuban young workers, in a workshop on site, as part of the restoration of historic stained-glass windows in the cathedral of this southern city.

This statement was confirmed here to Prensa Latina by grass master Enrique Barrio, of Vidrieras Barrios Company, in the northern Spanish city of Burgos, responsible for the repair of 15 stained-glass windows made in Paris around 1871 for the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.

The young trainees come from the trade school for the Joseph Tantete restoration, connected with the Curator's Office of the City of Cienfuegos.

The curriculum is focused on the creation of a technical and materially equipped workshop for the design and execution of leaded artistic stained-glass windows, whose graduates are trained to perform works of conservation and restoration of historic stained-glass windows, the Spanish artist said.

As part of the learning process, those students will carry out restoration practices on samples of new work executed by them.
